Valid questions to ask about the “internet of things”

…what about slowly infecting a company’s databases with dirty data? At some point the company will notice, but by then it will be too late. It will have databases full of dirty and clean data, intermingled. Perhaps business decisions have been made based on the wrong data? Most importantly, how will the company know what data to trust, and what data is dirty? How do you clean a database like that?

I understand from some US podcasts that I listen to that the Wall Street Journal has a tendency to spread some fear about internet / web security and privacy.  Possible scaremongering aside, these are not unreasonable questions to ask or scenarios to highlight…  I’m sure that EU policy makers will have something to say at some point.
