Film: The Spy Who Came In From The Cold

After listening to the radio adaptation, and reading the book, I found myself watching the film…

To some extent it is hard to judge the film objectively having read the book, but here goes…  the film rattles along at some pace, and the changed scenes and dialogue do a good job of representing the book’s main points without being a direct translation.  I’m not sure if the film would jump around too much for someone unfamiliar with the story.

Richard Burton does a good job as main character Alec Leamas, and it is interesting to see how central characters like Control and George Smiley are portrayed… certainly not the way they are these days.
